Upper cap screw down problems

Have you ever spent too much time trying to get the upper caps on your valves started?

This is a common problem and the solution is very simple.

Sometimes the threading on the upper caps is less than perfect as it is on my Yamaha Bobby Shew trumpet.

Getting them started-

Before you try to screw down your top valve caps, turn them in the opposite direction.

As you spin them in the unscrew direction, you will notice that the cap will give a soft click as it drops into the correct position to begin screwing the cap back down.

Even the most difficult cap will start easily when you use this trick.
