“Solo and ensemble repertoire will not be considered at this time”.
“Solo and ensemble repertoire will not be considered at this time”.
“Solo and ensemble repertoire will not be considered at this time”.
“Solo and ensemble repertoire will not be considered at this time”.
To most of you, this organization and their simple yet straight forward statement “Solo and ensemble repertoire will not be considered at this time” has little meaning or importance.
But to the hundreds of aspiring composers/arrangers around the country, this statement is a point of great frustration which only a composer/arranger can fully understand.
Those 10 words represent a fine example of the “Good Old Boy” attitude still alive and well in Texas at the current time.
As a well-respected composer/arranger with many thousands of satisfied customers around the world, I have finally given up in trying to submit my work for consideration to the Texas Solo Ensemble Contest list in the normal fashion. After waiting more than five years for the opportunity to submit new material to this list, I have chosen to share my frustrations with my many followers in hopes that something can be done to correct this injustice to the hundreds of aspiring composers/ arrangers around the country. This injustice is felt by the band directors as well for quality solo ensemble material is being held back in order to fill the needs of a limited number of friends connected to the inner circle of the The University Interscholastic League.
In my following posts I will share the history of this selection process and the truths of the abuse in the submission process hurting the musical education program in our country today as it has for many years.
